Hospital Bag

I decided to go ahead and make a list of things that I should pack for the hospital. I have been reading some posts at a mommy website and have some what gotten an idea of the basics that I need to bring. If you see anything missing or anything that you would recommend, please let me know! :) Thank you. I do not have insurance just yet, therefore I am bringing anything possbile in order to keep from having to use anything at the hospital (i.e. pads) because they charge you for every little thing!

Carseat! Oh, and a lot of people ask for chapstick ... Not sure why, I just having had a new mommy NOT ask for it. Maybe a blowdryer, the pads that they lay on the actual bed, and something to listen to.

You'll be just fine mommy!

Thanks girl! I thought about the carseat but figured we would already have that in the car. But I should probably not assume anything! Especially with my luck! Thanks again! :)

heheh. Don't forget actual clothes for YOU to wear home. I'm sure you don't want to walk out wearing pajamas. lol And usually, the hospital will give them to you, but just in case, make sure to get Witch Hazel pads. TRUST ME! If you have to have an episiotomy or if you tear, you'll want them. Also, there's some kind of spray you can use to numb the area, but I don't remember the name. :-( Your doc should know. Also, take your phone list (probably in your cell phone) that way you can let everyone know when Ava's born!

Oh, yeah! I second the witch hazel pads. Those are AWESOME! You might want to get some cheap underwear too. Sorry TMI, but they might get dirty, so you don't want to use your nice ones immediately after the birth. I doubt you'll want the snacks. Also doubt you'll have time to write in a journal, but you might.

Thanks! But what are witch hazel pads!? And I just saw the journal/book on someone elses list and figured I'd bring it just incase. LOL Thanks for your advise. Cheap undies sounds like a plan!

Witch hazel pads look like the same pads that are used for hemmorhoids but a little different. You can get them in any pharmacy pretty much. They help ease the pain (and itching!!!) that's caused by the stretching/tearing/episiotomy that happens with a vaginal birth. They're no good if you have a c-section. lol If that's the case, I'd just recommend some vicodin. lol

oh..and if you plan on breastfeeding, you'll want to go ahead and start using nipple cream in the hospital too. It'll help keep them from getting chapped early on. lol This whole birth stuff is starting to sound a whole lot more complicated, huh? lol

Yes it is! LOL! thanks for all the advise. Only thing is.. I cant go shop for these things or get much accomplished that I was hoping to get done seeing as Im on FREAKIN BED REST now! Man this sucks! I still have so much I need/want to do :( I think I may have to take one day this weekend and have Michael take me to pick up some of these items from the store that way Ill have them and can go ahead and get my back together... Hmm, I shouldve just written a darn email. Oh well, who cares. LOL

lol. Yeah, it's def. harder to do when you can't leave your house, but let me know if I can pick up anything for you. I can just see Mike checking out with extra large pads, witch hazel pads, nipple cream, and all the other various "embarassing" female things. lol

LOL, yea. He wouldnt get the right things anyway. LOL That's actually be really awsome if you could grab those things for me, just whenever youre out and I can pay you back.

Hey, my friend jess is running to walmart with me today to get all the things I need and then its complete bedrest! So I dont need you to pick anything up, but thank you! Im just really picky and I need nursing bras and so on and so on. So Im just gonna get it out of the way so itll make me feel a little more prepared. Best rest wont be so bad once I get that outta the way at least. But thank you, thank you, thank you!!
